ChariTEA Of The Quarter: Together Co.

What is ChariTEA?

We choose a new ChariTEA (Charity!) every quarter which is close to our hearts. They choose a blend that reflects them or what they support and we donate the profits of the blend to their cause!

For the quarter October 2020 to December 2020 our chosen ChariTEA was Together Co . - a charity that's tackling loneliness through connecting people, places and ideas to create a society that everyone can be part of.

The tea they chose as their blend was Vicky's Sponge Cake and we were thrilled to raise £2,899 for them!

About Together Co.

We can all experience loneliness or social isolation. We can all lift each other out of it. It starts with connection. Together Co. is Brighton and Hove’s loneliness charity and they have been creating connections that change lives for 20 years. They do this through befriending, social prescribing and volunteering services in Brighton, Hove and beyond, and by sharing ideas and expertise nationally.

The coronavirus crisis has brought huge challenges for our community with many feeling extremely alone, worried about money or other issues. No one should go through this alone and this is where Together Co. helps.

They match people with people to create friendships that make life better. They help people find the people and places they need to be happier and healthier. This might be having someone to chat to or someone to help navigate local services.

They have set up social prescribing across all GP practices, befriending and volunteering services in Brighton and Hove to develop a set of tools to support other organisations to do similar. They do this through training, consultancy and working to tailor their models of delivery across the region.

What else did we do to support Together Co?

In the lead up to Christmas we ran a Christmas PosTEA Campaign which was set up after the success of our PosTEA campaign in the first UK Lockdown, to help isolated people feel more connected. Volunteers were invited to write a card, letter or even make a gift to send to someone in need. The letter and gifts were sent to us and we repacked them to include some tea and then we sent them on their way to many of the Together Co scheme members to brighten up their Christmas!
